Atlas Copco Airpower opens the position of Technology Engineer for the purpose of Job Shadowing, offering PhD candidates (≥ 3rd year of the PhD trajectory) / postdocs affiliated with 1 of the 5 Flemish universities the possibility to see for themselves what tasks and responsibilities come with this particular job function. 

Shadow a Technology Engineer at Atlas Copco who works towards the improvement of oil-water separation technology. This Technology Engineer looks for and evaluates new media to enhance the efficiency of separating oil from water, by evaluating their performance and building understanding of the underlying mechanisms that drive separation. Collaborating closely with engineering and lab teams, the Technology Engineers aims at optimising separation processes and ensuring testing and screening procedures are both efficient and representative. The overall aim is the improvement of the existing oil-water separator and the development of new products and solutions.

A key aspect of this position is to advance a fundamental understanding of the separation process. This knowledge allows to make informed decisions and select the most effective media and separation technology.

On a day-to-day basis this function includes designing, performing/delegating, following-up tests and analysing their results, written and oral reporting, keeping up to date with emerging technologies, managing supplier relationships, following-up field cases …

> Open to PhD candidates/postdocs with a background in Separation/Filtration Techniques, Adsorption, Analytical Chemistry and Material Chemistry/Science. A firm knowledge of Dutch or at least a solid working knowledge of English required.

Atlas Copco Airpower can offer a 1- or 2-day Job Shadowing experience. The possible dates for Job Shadowing are 6 and 7 October, 13 and 14 October.
