On the agenda

Atlas Copco Airpower opens the position of Microcontroller and Microprocessor Firmware and Operating System Development for the purpose of Job Shadowing, offering PhD candidates (≥ 3rd year of the PhD trajectory) / postdocs affiliated with 1 of the 5 Flemish universities the possibility to see for themselves what tasks and responsibilities come with this particular job function.

As part of Job Shadowing, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to join the Firmware and Operating Systems Team. The team develops low-level software for a wide range of hardware platforms. Their job involves creating bare-metal firmware such as bootloaders, drivers and real-time operating systems for microcontroller hardware, as well as creating and maintaining the in-house developed embedded Linux operating system. Being part of the R&D department of Atlas Copco’s Airtec division, the Firmware and Operating Systems Team has the freedom to explore new innovations and design new architectures from scratch. It gets to experiment with a wide range of exciting technologies (real-time operating systems and scheduling, IoT, web-based user interfaces, WiFi, Bluetooth, smartphone app integration, over-the-air updates) and programming languages (C, modern C++, Rust).  Put in your application for Job Shadowing if you want to get to know the exciting world of embedded hardware and software.

> Open to PhD candidates/postdocs with a background in Computer Science, Physics, Civil Engineering, Mathematics. A firm knowledge of English is a must.

Atlas Copco Airpower can offer a 1-day Job Shadowing experience. Job Shadowing preferably takes place on a Friday between 6 and 17 October
