KU Leuven Libraries opens the position of Head of Department for the purpose of Job Shadowing, offering PhD candidates (≥ 3rd year of the PhD trajectory) / postdocs affiliated with 1 of the 5 Flemish universities the possibility to see for themselves what tasks and responsibilities come with this particular job function. 

The Head of Department at KU Leuven is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning and operational management, as well as the development and execution of library services. These services include ensuring access to digital and physical collections, providing research support, teaching support as well as enhancing the information and digital skills of students. The position of head of department includes supervising library staff, managing budgets, as well as an active participation in the management team of KU Leuven Libraries, and several internal and external networks and working groups. 

> Open to PhD candidates / postdocs with a background in Humanities, Biomedical Sciences, Technology & Engineering.    

KU Leuven offers a 1-day Job Shadowing experience. The date for Job Shadowing will be decided upon in close consultation with the selected candidate.
