Gevers Patents opens the position of Patent Engineer for the purpose of Job Shadowing, offering PhD candidates (≥ 3rd year of the PhD trajectory) / postdocs affiliated with 1 of the 5 Flemish universities the possibility to see for themselves what tasks and responsibilities come with this particular job function.
A Patent Engineer at Gevers advises innovating companies and is intensively involved in all aspects of protecting their innovation (intellectual property (IP) strategy, protection, active management, defense, valuation, etc.). The Patent Engineer's close contact with colleagues within GEVERS is an important advantage to ensure the best possible services . The Patent Engineer protects the interests of clients with the Belgian and European Patent Office, as well as with other foreign offices. The Patent Enginer also defends the interests of clients in national and international courts, together with the appointed lawyers. The Patent Engineer has the final responsibility in patent cases and clients that he/she deals with in his/her technical field.
> Open to PhD candidates / postdocs with a background in Life Sciences: Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotech / High-Tech : ICT, Mechanics, Electronics, Telecommunication. Preference is given to candidates with an excellent command of Dutch or French, and a firm knowledge of English.
