Pfizer opens the position of Project Engineer Lab Operations for the purpose of Job Shadowing, offering PhD candidates (≥ 3rd year of the PhD trajectory) / postdocs affiliated with 1 of the 5 Flemish universities the possibility to see for themselves what tasks and responsibilities come with this particular job function.
In the production departments in Puurs, raw materials are transformed into filled pharmaceutical products. The product passes through several stages of production (material preparation, weighing, formulation, filling into containers, freeze-drying, capping, inspection, storage, and transport). Further along in the production process, the medicine is labeled and packaged, and eventually delivered to the patient via the distribution chain.
The position of Project Engineer Operational Support is situated within the Lab Operations department, which is responsible for the quality control of components, raw materials, active ingredients, intermediates, and (semi-)finished medicines produced at the Pfizer facility. A variety of analytical and bioanalytical techniques are used here, including HPLC, UPLC, GC, SDS, CE, IEF, Karl Fischer, AAS, Slot Blot, and ICP-OES.
As a Project Engineer you support the team of analysts with your technical expertise in daily operational troubleshooting. Your focus lies on continuously improving analysis processes and the performance of laboratory equipment.
> Open to PhD candidates / postdocs with a background in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Bioscience Engineering. Preference is given to candidates with a firm knowledge of Dutch.
