Vlaamse overheid, departement Werk, Economie, Wetenschap, Innovatie en Sociale Economie opens the position of Beleidsmedewerker Wetenschapsbeleid (Science Policy Advisor) for the purpose of Job Shadowing, offering PhD candidates (≥ 3rd year of the PhD trajectory) / postdocs affiliated with 1 of the 5 Flemish universities the possibility to see for themselves what tasks and responsibilities come with this particular job function. 

The Science Policy Advisor you will be shadowing in the Flemish Government currently works on the new policy plan on Open Science. She also works as case manager for VITO (follow-up related to their funding agreement), and works closely together with the cabinet in the context of a systemic approach to R&D&I with a view on the policy for the next few years - in this case specifically focussed on a trajectory to reduce administrative burdens for researchers.   

> Open to PhD candidates / postdocs from all academic disciplines.  Preference is given to candidates with a firm knowledge of Dutch.  

The Flemish Government offers a 1-day Job Shadowing experience. The dates for Job Shadowing will be decided upon in close consultation with the selected candidate.
