AGC Glass Europe - Technovation Center opens the position of Researcher for Decorative Glass Products (mirror, painted glass, …) for the purpose of Job Shadowing, offering PhD candidates (≥ 3rd year of the PhD trajectory) / postdocs affiliated with 1 of the 5 Flemish universities the possibility to see for themselves what tasks and responsibilities come with this particular job function. 

A Researcher for Decorative Glass Products (mirror, painted glass, ...) at AGC Glass Europe puts together an action plan to develop new products, collect the performance results and have conclusion, reporting, contact plants to get feedback/feasibility study, …

AGC Glass Europe invites you to participate in a PhD Shadowing day at its Technovation Center, guided by Anne Attout and Bruno Majérus, two passionate experts who will accompany you throughout this immersive experience.

This day is designed to provide you with a comprehensive view of our R&D activities, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative processes. Here’s what awaits you:

  • Warm Welcome: Start the day with coffee and breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere, where you’ll have the chance to meet your hosts and order your lunch at reception.
  • Safety First: A quick briefing on safety protocols to ensure a smooth and secure experience.
  • Introduction to AGC: Learn about AGC Glass Europe’s history, values, and ambitions, as well as its role as a global leader in the glass industry.
  • Discovery Room: Dive into an interactive space where you’ll explore the innovations and technologies shaping the future of glass.
  • Hands-On Department Visits: Spend time in our labs to experience practical activities such as glass cutting, fusion, glass characterization, fire-resistant testing, and more. You’ll also take a full tour of the labs to understand the breadth of our activities, with brief insights into other departments.
  • Discover Pulsaart: Explore Pulsaart by AGC and its anechoic chambers, a start-up offering comprehensive solutions for antenna systems to meet today’s connectivity needs.
  • Debriefing and Feedback: Wrap up the day with coffee and a discussion session to share your impressions, ask questions, and reflect on the experience.

> Open to PhD candidates/postdocs with a background in Natural Sciences (Chemistry, Surface Treatment, …). Preference is given to candidates who have a firm knowledge of English.  

AGC Glass Europe - Technovation Center offers a 1-day Job Shadowing experience. The date for Job Shadowing is 10 October
